BOOKS AND AUTHORS

MEET SIR ROBERT ANDERSON

Robert Anderson (1841-1918) was converted to Christ at the age of nineteen and almost immediately began to preach in his native Dublin where he trained for a legal profession at Trinity College. He became a respected member of the Irish Home Office and an expert on criminal investigation. In 1888 he was summoned to Scotland Yard, London, to serve as Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department, an office he filled with distinction until his retirement in 1896.

At a time when Arthur Conan Doyle was writing murder mysteries starring his fictional character Sherlock Holmes, Robert Anderson was solving real life murder mysteries and hunting down and capturing real live murderers. These were the terrible days of Jack the Ripper and the like.

While Arthur Conan Doyle was immersing himself in the occult, Anderson was gaining a profound knowledge of the Bible which he thoroughly believed and ardently loved.

At his retirement, he was knighted by Queen Victoria; and in 1901, King Edward VII made him Knight Commander.

Of his seventeen books we carry eight, all at modest, and for us, just about "break-even" prices, but we do want you to have them in your Christian Home Library. Call us at (630) 834-0884 for more information.

We do not endorse every view of any author, but Sir Robert has so much good stuff, that we believe any believer that doesn't know his work is much the poorer for it; conversely, having him in your home as a permanent guest teacher will make you richer in the knowledge of our Savior's Person and work. Have you met Sir Robert? Have your children met him? How about your Pastor?

The GRACE BELIEVER does not endorse every view of every author. Through this column and its literature ministry, the Grace Believer seeks to aid Christians in building an interesting and informative Home Library that will add to their understanding of God’s Word, enhancing personal growth and increasing effectiveness in ministry.
