One Woman's View

Living By Faith

"I have set the Lord always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved." The only one that accomplished this perfectly was our lord Jesus Christ.

We are told in Job 14:1, "Man that is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble." One of the many things we learned in counselling was that no matter what path we choose in life, married or single, to have children or to be childless, rich or poor, etc., we have problems. The big advantage that believers have is our Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. He has not left us as orphans, but no matter what we face in life, He has promised never to leave us or forsake us. He has a solution to every problem we face, in the Bible.

Most of us do not make Bible Doctrine the first priority in our life. We neglect His Word and as a result are unable to cope when we do encounter a problem. Many times people quit attending church regularly when they face difficulties. We need to hear the Word taught, and to have the encouragement of other believers then more than ever.

One of the greatest breakthroughs for me, in living the Christian life, was the realization that it was only possible to do so by faith in fhe lord Jesus Christ. None of us are capable, in our own strength, to live a life pleasing to God. We are told in Colossians 2:6, "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him."

Early in our ministry, Jim invited a Christian couple to give their testimony in the evening service. The husband was a policeman who had helped young men who were headed for trouble to consider Christ, and live for Him. I will never forget the wife’s testimony. She said, "I am so thankful that my Heavenly Father loved me so much that He kept me from the sins that my Christian friends experienced." The problem I had with what she said was that it gave the wrong impression about God.

One of the many attributes of God is being just. He has no favorites. When we trust Christ as our Savior, we immediately receive 36 provisions that nothing, or no one, can take away. God’s Word tells us, "And ye are complete in Him." (Col. 2:10).

Finally, the only way to be stabilized, and not move away from Him who loves us, is to replace our human viewpoint with His Divine viewpoint revealed to us in His Word. We are told in Galatians 5:16, "This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."
